Birmingham National 2021 Judged by Mr A Wight
BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL – 2021

DALMATIAN

I had a lovely day with this very sporting crown of Dally supporters but can I suggest that the practise of stuffing food into your charges mouth is deferred until AFTER the judge has examined the dog. It is often quite hard to do the dog justice when all it wants is the food which is tantalisingly being waived just an inch before it’s mouth. In general terms I had some excellent examples of the breed but feel some are becoming over sized and instead of being lithe and looking like they could travel for miles, are so big and heavy that they would probably tire quite quickly.

SBD (5/1)
1 Szymikowski & Lockhart’s Kenyton Gladion well decorated liver with a clean head, ample neck, well sprung ribs and in & in hard, muscular condition. On the stack appeals for his reach of neck and flowing outline. Profile action smooth striding but can bounce a bit in front.
2 Marley & Libbey’s Bellili’s D’amore De Loin ShCM heavier decorated black with good length/height proportions, all male in head with a fairly good breadth in skull, powerful muzzle and so alive in expression. Side on his movement is balanced but he was moving very close behind.
3 Robbins’ Jasquarella Edge of Winter

MPD
(5/1)
1 Booth’s Buzzbrook King Alfred looks at his best on the move as his action is so balanced and powerful.
2 Croft’s Koroyza Viking Voyager this chap was in a very playful mood and liked to bounce a bit when asked to move. I liked his head which has a decent length in foreface, nice flat skull and the brightest of eyes which gleamed with anticipation. He is balanced in length/height ratios with ample width in second thigh. Side action balanced but he likes to throw his front about - just showing off!
3 Grinham’s Koroyza Norse Explorer.

1 Jasquarella Edge of Winter much more settled down in this class so nicked the red card. Black decoration, with a lovely reach of neck, well laid shoulders, good ribs and well muscled aft. His head is all male with a decent stop and dark, so alive eyes.
2 Richards’ Hafwenna We Will Rock You large decoration but well spread. Well developed ribcage, supple loin, ample rear angulation and well set and carried tail. Nice head balance with good ears and eyes. Topline dips a bit on the stack and he was moving close behind.
3 Johnson’s Dalstorm Incan Misssion

JD
(7/1)
1 & BP Wright’s Millbelle Crazy Horse at first he was a little reserved but luckily he overcame that to show how good he is. Black spotted, lovely size and length/height proportions (some are now quite over-sized), good angulation fore and aft, level backline to a good tail set and carriage. He has a well balanced head with excellent eyes and foreface. Soundest moving with reach and drive.
2 Croft’s Sophspot Midas Touch for Koroyza more heavily decorated and quite a handful to go over as he is on the tip toe of expectation throughout. Nice head of good length and very dark and expressive eyes.
3 Hobbs & Whiting’s Rapanooey Ranunculus

2 K. Gladion
3 Tison’s Perdita’s Albus

1 Moate’s Sundowndal Trijonkuro this heavily decorated chap has a lovely well balanced headpiece with strong muzzle and lovely eyes. Ample neck, decent fore assembly, best hindquarters in this class and was in such fit, well muscled condition. He is at his best circling the ring with drive, showing good reach and extension. Needs firmer handling on the stack as he tends to over stretch.
2 Chattaway’s Buzzbrook Spellbuster I liked the head balance, eyes and expression on this handsome headed fellow. Sufficient neck, a little narrow in front, just about sufficient spring in rib but I would prefer him to have better rear angulation. Circling the ring he did not have the athletic outline of the winner.
3 Stock’s Sophspot Lionheart at Nospar.

PGD
(4/1)
1 Green & Sear’s Alphadal Aint Misbehaving at Judally JW a bit of handful for his handler as he is raring to go from the second he enters the ring. Heavily decorated, such a good head, sparkling eyes, very well sprung ribs, the best hindquarters in the class, so well muscled and denoting power. Once settled shows reach and drive in profile.
2 Sampson’s Dalstorm Golden Guinea JW I did like the head quality of this chap. Has an air of quality and style, good spring and depth of rib, tight elbows, firm backline and excellent feet. Not quite the rear angulation of the winner and not his power as they went around together.
3 Williams’ Tolkain Storm King from Phadante JW.

1 & Res CC Pearson & Bliss’ Kelevra What Guy JW, middle sized black decoration on this very charming dog. Unexaggerated which was a great appeal to me. His head is all male, stunning expression and a good length in foreface. Nice neck, well ribbed and lovely tail set and carriage. His handler moved him at just right speed to show his athleticism and ground covering action. In spanking muscle tone, I was more than happy to have him as my res best dog.
2 Richardson’s Mapplewell Pocket Rocket bigger all over than the winner and impressive on the stack. Very macho head, just about enough neck, big rib cage and so well muscled aft I felt the winner was firmer and tidier in his front action and his better size appealed to me.
3 Whincup’s Tamilanda Air Force One

OD
(7/2)
1 CC & BOB Christie’s Ch Sophspot Gold Dust JW he came, I looked, he moved and I was conquered!! A lovely example of the breed. Surely at the top of his form and I was more than happy to send him through to the Group.
2 Page & Howell’s Bleize De Montjui at Winflash (Imp USA) another really lovely Dally and one which should end up ennobled. Classy head and expression, well proportioned in length/height ratios, spanking condition and so well muscled aft. Pushed those that beat him all the way. I felt they just held their backline firmer on the go around.
3 Quayle’s Ch Millbelle Kicking Horse at Cubalibre JW

VD
(5/1)
Two black decorated dogs both shapely in repose with good angulation both ends and free striding as they circle the ring. I gave Picasso the nod on his straighter backline. Both a credit in condition with lithe, firm bodies and good muscle tone.
1 Alexander’s Offordale Picasso
2 Eden’s Dalens Hot Gossip JW ShCM VW
3 Hurst’s Philcarthom Xcaliber at Finnidal.

1 Horscraft’s Perdita’s Anastasia at Manxchando easily the best schooled to show her virtues to best advantage. Lovely wither height, ample spring and depth of rib, level backed to a good loin and well set and carried tail. Her head is very good with lovely eyes and a kind expression. Moves out with a steady, balanced stride.
2 Bardet’s Dallydyl Dangerous Liaison this liver is at the gangly stage and was quite restless making her handler’s job a hard one. Once stacked she displays a good neck and backline, excellent bend of stifle and she is well decorated. Gave glimpses of good action but needs ring training to do better.
3 Sankin’s Jabitoja Playa Blanca.

MPB

1 Page’s Salsusa Belle of the Ball a very promising young black spotted, so feminine in head and expression, a clean neck line, so well ribbed and good straight forelegs. She is shapely, well muscled hindquarters and once settled showed a smooth, balanced stride.
2 Chattaway’s Buzzbrook Lily of the Valley this black is more heavily marked than the winner but she scores in head which has a flat skull, enough stop, excellent foreface, decent neck which she uses to best advantage. Her proportions please the eye but I would like to see more definite hind angulation and let down in hock. However, on the move she is even striding and keeps her shape.
3 Pratt’s Sophspot Oops a Daisy of Lyndalla

PB
(13/2)
1 Finlay’s Dvojica Excuse My French at Dalfin shapely to the eye and well muscled, this pretty head youngster was so well schooled so made the best of her virtues. I stunning condition, she uses her neck to best advantage and profile action is lithe and balanced.
2 Cattermol’s Jasquarella Ice Queen at Kalvadene I really did like the shape and style of this very pretty headed young bitch. She has well weighted bone, excellent fore assembly with good feet and her head is a delight. She just needs to become more confident and outgoing as when she moves around the ring she shows a decent stride and keeps her shape.
3 Richards’ Hafwenna All That Jazz

JB
(8/1)
1 England & Eden’s Dalens Queen of the Seas at Silverspot rather a stylish young miss with that air of quality about her presence. Good length/height proportions, strong loin and sufficient bend of stifle. Nicely headed with a lovely expression her shape flows and her side action is so positive.
2 Hopkin’s Dvojica Evangelista another very promising youngster which will, I am sure, have many battles with the winner during their show careers. All the makings of a top class bitch, beautifully headed, so expressive eyes and a lovely head carriage. Well ribbed and bodied she is just not yet as positive in front action but that can come.
3 Quayle’s Cubalibre On One

(3)
1 White’s Sophspot La De Da at Belsmard lightly decorated black with an appealing outline on the stack. Good head properties, spanking coat and muscle tone, good bend of stifle and ground covering action.
2 Horscraft’s Perditta’s Anastasia at Manchando another bitch with lots to admire as she too is quintessentially feminine in head and expression. She is balanced throughout and in profile her action is balanced and purposeful. I felt the winner came towards me that little better footfall.
3 Neath-Duggan & Baker’s Buffrey Carry On Emmanuelle with Dalleaf

NB
(10)
1 Howard-Riddle’s Shydally Star Attraction this charmer had full marks for condition in both coat and body. So well decorated, sweeping outline using her neck to best advantage then moved around with such a light step. Pleasing head with good muzzle length.
2 Gardner’s Wrendragge Mabel Syrup this character was a bit reserved and less outgoing than the winner. She is a nice size with good proportions, well balanced head with a good flat skull and very good ears. She can tense on the stack so her backline rises which detracts from her appeal. Side action smooth but a little close going away.
3 Alcock’s Kayjule Amber Lady T Dalspartran

GB
(14/4)
1 Moate’s Sundowndal Trijonbelle nice flat skull, ample stop and muzzle of good length. She is well decorated, is fit as a flea and really outmoved everything else in the class with a lightness of step which made me smile. It also confirmed her good construction.
2 Davis’ Tamilanda What A Pickle at her best when being gone over as she has much to like. Good head balance, lovely expression, ample reach of neck, good layback in shoulder and she is well ribbed. Spotless in coat but she was toeing in when action fore viewed which made my decision easier.
3 D. Queen of the Seas at S.

PGB
(101/2)
1 Pearson’s Kelevra Mind Your Nebula, this girl really appealed to me as she is so un-exaggerated and balanced. Good head properties and eyes and expression with well carried ears, sufficient neck, well laid shoulders with complimentary rear angulation and such tight well knit feet. Moves around the ring with an even step and holds her shape well.
2 Thomas’ Buffrey Carry On Loving at Philcarthom this pretty headed girl was flawless in presentation and muscle tone. Just a fraction over angulated in hindquarters for me otherwise she is of balanced construction, is a good size and decidedly feminine in every way.
3 Patrick’s Cohavrick Symphony

LB
(11)
1 Paterson’s Kelvera What A Storm another quality black bearing this affix. Again is a quality example of the breed, most engaging expression, sufficient neck, good length and depth of rib with a supple loin and amply angulated hindquarters. She circled the ring with a light, positive stride and her presence in the line up for the CC. was rewarded by her taking the RCC against some classy opposition, Surely a title contender before too long.?
2 Hobbs & Whiting’s Sophspot Knockout at Rapanooey, another quality exhibit, undeniably feminine in head and expression, again well bodied and in super condition. Her length/height balance is so good, uses her neck to best advantage and only lost out to the winner who was showing just that tad lighter step as they went around the ring.
3 Eden’s Dalens A Spot of Trouble JW ShCM ShCEX

OB
(112/4)
1 & CC Alexander’s Offordale Victoriana I thought she looked and moved like a class item. Oozes quality in head and expression, lovely body shape with the lines flowing so smoothly. Not overdone in any way, simply shapely, breed type at its best and so good on the move.
2 Lame’s World Dalpetro Diamond another charming exhibit with heaps to like. Looks and handles like a top class example of the breed. A delight to go over, in excellent coat and body condition , scores in head properties and just missed out to the better profile action of those I put above her.
3 Neath-Duggan & Baker’s Ch Buffrey Hanky Pankyy by Dalleaf JW

VB
(8/2)
1 & BVIB Patrick’s Spiral Desdemona ShCM what a super shape and attitude this veteran has. Light footed, attitude to burn fit as a flea and clearly enjoying her time in the ring. I loved her expression, so knowing and happy.
2 Finlay’s Ch Dvojica Black Swan at Dalfin ShCM another with that air of self confidence and well being. Beautifully constructed, lovely length/height proportions, in pristine coat and like the winner she has retained a good stride pattern. Looks every inch the Ch she is.
3 Wareham’s Tamilanda Blue Water Lily at Dotsadaisy ShCM
