Nada has been a really happy, healthy dog, despite being so wilful, greedy and disobedient, bless her. To be perfectly honest I’ve quite liked her naughtiness and strong personality. Until now . . .

On Friday afternoon’s walk she found a pile of slug pellets. I quickly clipped her lead back on and walked her along to what I considered to be a safe distance. That was a big error of judgement on my part. She bolted straight back to finish what she’d started. She is now on fluids, heavily sedated and slow responding to her drugs.

Nada changed my life when I brought her home as a plump little puppy. Two years later and I realize how much I failed her.

She is young and very fit, and that MIGHT just save her.

‘Nada’ is a Croatian name, and it means ‘hope.’ God, I hope . . .

Oh Matt
I am so sorry to hear about Nada.
Will keep everything crossed.... Hopefully treatment will work and she will soon be back where she belongs.
Don't blame yourself... Dogs are dogs and theses things happen.
Thankfully you knew what it was and she's been treated rapidly.

How awful. Fingers and paws crossed for poor Nada. At least you witnessed what happened and got her treated quickly. Our thoughts are with you. xxxx

Everything crossed for her here too. You have in no way failed her, we have all had similar experiences with our dogs and we all know how you feel. When she's better we'll tell you about them.

Thanks so much for all your good wishes.

I spoke to the veterinary nurse this morning and she sounded very positive. Nada improved considerably during the night. No longer sedated, and her tremors have finally ceased. Still very weak and on a drip. Yesterday afternoon/evening it was very touch-and-go, but it sounds like she’s turned a corner now.

They’re keeping her in at least until tomorrow to monitor her liver, but I think she’ll be home soon.

Thanks again everyone Smile

Oh thank goodness...that's great news.....I've been thinking about her all morning.
Thank you for letting us know, I can imagine what sort of night you had.

As for slug pellets.. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
I wish they would ban them....its an evil way to kill anything let alone all the poor creatures that also sucumb to them.
Here's hoping that Nada will be home soon with no after effects.
As Fiona says....
Phew

Very Happy

Am so pleased to hear that!! Been thinking about you all day. Slug pellets and rat poison are so horribly dangerous.

Let's hope Nada is home safe and sound soon.

I've only just seen your post - I'm so sorry to hear about Nada. I too think slug pellets ought to be banned.

I hope this morning brings good news about Nada and that she'll soon be back to her old self xxx
