Leeds 2019 Judged by Dr John Stevenson
Dalmatians:

My thanks to the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege to go over their Dalmatians, and for accepting decisions sportingly. Sadly, the day was seriously affected by the particularly poor weather. Surprisingly, perhaps, there were only 10 absentees despite this. The light drizzle early on progressively deteriorated to heavy drizzle then steadily increasing rain, culminating in an absolute downpour with one last exhibit to go in Open Bitch! I wanted to give all the exhibitors and their dogs a level playing field, so hoped to move all the exhibits outside the in-out tent, but that proved impossible at the end. I was naturally pleased with my main winners, especially as I found that my two CC winners had matured so well from the youngsters which I had admired from some while ago.

I thought there were numerically more males of quality, in contrast to the previous time I judged. Bitches continue to show more strength in numbers. It was rewarding to find quality winners in my 2 Veteran classes.

(9,2) What a class with quality in depth!!
1 Gardner Ch Dvojica Chilli Chutney For Wrendragge JW Feminine and elegant 3yr l/s who has matured to perfection since I last judged her. Outline in profile is of such balanced proportions and sound construction and conformation, complemented by good substance and freedom from any exaggeration. Her overall attributes particularly manifest themselves when moved. Gaited at a steady effortless collected trot (certainly not racing round the ring as others seem to think correct or impressive – it is neither), her long reach drawing the ground toward her, coupled with powerful drive from well angulated and muscled rear quarters, reflect a true carriage dog. BCC & BOB
2.Neath-Duggan & Baker Ch Buffrey Hanky Panky By Dalleaf JW
There are times when you really do wish you could have 2 CCs available, as I took no satisfaction in awarding ‘only’ a second successive RCC to this b/s bitch. Soundly constructed forequarters with well laid shoulder, good angulation and return of upper arm, straight foreleg and correct spring of pastern. Angulation of well muscled hindquarters mirrors that of forequarters, hence combining to generate a balanced and powerful stride, covering the ground with such ease.
3 Dodds & Pearson Ch & Ir Ch Int Ch Kelevra Classic Cliche JW Sh.CM

VB

1 Emmett & Simons Ch Dalliviro Reba Mac At Ellemstra JW Sh.CM Like the VD winner, this 8yrs b/s is still in her prime. In firm condition, feminine from nose to tail with proportionately balanced outline and substance capable of perfoming the carriage dog role. Not surprisingly these attributes were reflected in her true movement.
2 Morgan Winflash Olympic Star Sh.CM JW Compact b/s with proportionate bone and substance. Smooth lines, good construction and moved in a collected manner around the ring. Enthusiastic showgirl.
