Hello Everyone,

Some of you may remember me, my name is Stephen Fellows and I'm 20 years old.

I used to show my Daly about 5 years ago but sadly had to stop due to a health condition he picked up (Prostate trouble and stone forming).

Although, he was a bit small to the breed standard, he is still a loving member of the family and we still get to have long walks with him early hours in the morning and afternoon, it's a good routine to get into. He really enjoys the walks ( Well, wot do you expect he is a Daly).

Anyway my sister has recently got a Daly puppy and we have entered him in some upcoming shows. He is only 5 months old so not quite old enough yet. He absolutely loves my dog and vise versa - they're both like two crazy puppies gone mad when we go on out daily walks together.

I would like to hear from anyone about any daly topic or anything else, I have been out of showing now for a while and need to catch up!.

One thing I wanted to query, my sister and I are unsure how far and how long we can walk the puppy for. He gets very wrestless when he hasn't had a decent amount of exercise but we don't want to harm his bones by over exercising??? Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Steve Fellows

Wink

Hi, Stephen,

How are you? It's a very long time, but I remember you and your mother well!

Quite scary to hear you are 20yrs old now. I must be ancient!!

It will be great to see you back in the ring and I hope you haven't forgotten your excellent handling skills!

As to exercise, I would still recommend caution at this age.
Any road walking on the lead should still be short and just used for socialisation.
Exercise off the lead can be longer now, but still take care the puppy doesn't do any big jumps etc.
Plenty of play at home in the garden and lots of short training sessions will help keep the brain occupied!

Look forward to seeing you again,

Lou Garton
