I have just delivered a spot which I have fostered for the past month. He was an adorable dog, happy, friendly, loving and sweet. I am determined to be a good fosterer and the couple who I handed him to were very nice and I know will love him. I was calm and collected, did the paperwork and wished them all the best. But when I got in the car and saw his little face .....ouch!

You have been very brave and well done for looking after him so well.

I'm sure you and Cassie will miss him at first.

Hope he has a lovely life. Laughing

Thanks, it was tough. Cassie was ace, accepted him in, shared her quilt and toys with him, but one thing really amused us. She is not allowed upstairs but Sam decided that he was. Every time he went up she would come and find us and tell us so that we could get him down again. Talk about telling tales.

Yes thanks Valerie for looking after him so well.

It is always difficult, when I pick up a dog which is much loved but has to be rehomed I try to do the paper woork as quickly as possible and put the dog in the car and drive away as quickly as possible even if I have to stop out iof sightand sort thing sout afterwards. I look in the mirror and sometimes see the whole family with their arms round each other tears running down their faces.

When they are loved dogs it is so hard to see tham go. However I know the dog perks up, thinks they are going for a nice trip and rarely even cries. It is us that suffer not the dogs

Well done Kisscass what we always tell ourselves is there are so many Dalmatians that we can help by being foster carers. There have already been a few tears when we have had to let the first of the Welfare 10 go.
Keep up the great work. I'm sure Anne will agree good fosterers are like gold!

Just a happy post script. I heard from his new mum today and he has settled in well, has played with his new spotty friend and has been chasing the waves on the beach. She sent me a lovely picture of him paddling in the sea. He has gone to live in Cornwall. Lucky lucky boy. Laughing

And I am reliably informed that you are going to be brave enough to foster Alfie this time. Hhe sounds a bit more of a handful than Sam was but regular exercise may solve a lot of that. Do keep us all posted on his progress

Alfie is a 7 year old boy who has moved around a bit. He arrived today and has been playing with Cassie pretty much since he arrived. He seems quite happy and has good manners. He is very tall! He and Cassie have emptied the entire toybox over the living room and it was quite full after Christmas. Despite the fact that there are 6 raggers in there they both want the same one. Not sure if I am allowed to post pictures but if Welfare say I can then I will - Anne?

Definitely post photos. It is not as if the people who gave him up were attached to him. I am sure people would like to see a Welfare dog in a foster home.
