What age would be the best time? I ask this as Grace is eating non-stop!! We can't feed her enough and we were wondering if we should start encouraging the pups to give her a rest! When the pups are 'on the breast' and one of us goes into the fridge or rustle some sweet papers then she is out of the puppy pen and the pups drop from her!! She has always liked an 'extra' treat on an evening but it's getting quite annoying as she's never been this bad. She's quite small for a bitch and the 8 pups are three weeks old now.....and a fair size too!

Weetabix and Creamed Rice Pudding ......also scrambled egg has been suggested?

Ta

I start weaning at 3 weeks, using scraped beef; get a piece of steak and scape the flat side of with a knife to get a juicy pulp, and give each puppy just a teaspoon of it on the first day. Second day you can give one teaspoon twice. They very soon get the taste for food other than mother's milk.
