Please can someone explain in plain English what "Good Citizen Classes" are at a Champ show? I noticed at Birmingham in September that there are "Good Citizen Classes" in all breeds after the Open Classes: now is this just another class and on the same lines as Limit, Graduate etc or is it a "behave yourself and an obenience class"? the reason I ask is that Bailey does the "sit" "down" etcs however she does not like "stay" for more than a minute or two as she seems to think I am going to leave her, bless.

These types of clases are also held at Crufts.
I am presuming you mean the classes that are listed in the breed class.
These are judged exactly the same as the other show classes, however to enter this class the dog must have passed it's KC Good citizen Bronze.
The dog is judged on conformation and movement and adherance to the breed standard. A display of obedience is not required.
The kennel Club states that those entering these classes should have their certificates available if requested, but it is extremely rare to be asked.

The Good Citizen classes at Crufts, still require the dog to have qualified for Crufts in the normal way as for other breed classes, but to ALSO have the KCGC bronze.

When these new clases first appeared, judges were specifically encouraged to judge dogs in these classes in exactly the same way as the other breed classes.

Hope that helps!

Thank you, yes after the classes, if I remember correctly Birmingham is straight after the Open Classes for each breed.
