The little puppy that Had to go back that I was writing about was a patch puppy.

I have also heard that patch puppies generally havew good hearing, not necessarliy the whole litter but the specific puppies that have patching. We resantly had a litter of puppies and had one unilateral deaf puppy in a litter of 10. We would not have known if we had not had the BAER testing done. If people are breeding dalmatians then they should be responsible and have the BAER test done so they know everything about the puppies health before it leaves them. It can be expensive but surley cost should not be the issue, breeding is not always profitable if done properly. We put an endorsement on our puppy and informed the new owners before he left us.

If you had a uni dog would they still be able to show but with no intension of breeding ?

Most certainly. With a lot of background knowledge they could also be bred from, if you were to be sure never to mate them to another unilateral. It's not recommended to limit the gene pool too much - a unilateral animal might have perfect hips, for example.

Mabel is a uni and i show her - you would never know she was a uni and we only know because she was hearing tested.
