Hi all,
I rescued a Dalmatian on Sunday, he's a lovely dog, 2 years old, a bit on the thin side but very cheeky! He's also proving very easy to train and my children love him. One question I do have is that he has pink/grey marks on his lower back around his spine, it isn't causing him any pain (I am a canine massage therapist by trade) but I'm not sure whether to be worried or not. I have never had a Dalmatian before and everyone else I have asked for advice doesn't know what these marks are either!
Thank you for accepting me into your group, I am enjoying reading about all the naughty things Dalmatians do and hoping mine will be good!

Hello Sara and welcome to the forum. It would help if you could maybe post a photo of the marks?
How lovely that you have given him his forever home, but I wouldn't hold your breath too long about him being good all the time! What is his name and so you know any history? _________________ Valerie, Cassie and Alfred the Great |

Hi, thank you for replying! his name is Harley and that's all I know really! I was told about him by a friend who runs a kennel service, his previous owner couldn't cope with him, he pulled on the lead and had no recall. He was kept in a small room and only allowed out to pee I will try and upload a photo, tech is not my strong point! [/img] |

Hello Sarah and Harley!
Look forward to seeing some photos of Harley
It's so lovely that you've given him his forever home
You may have already seen this elsewhere on the forum, but you can't upload a photo directly into a post - you have to put the photo on one of the photo sharing websites and include the link to it in your post. _________________ Ann, Kenny & Flekk |

Thank you everyone! I think I have uploaded a photo to my own website www.equineathletesportsmassage.co.uk but it probably doesn't show his 'different' spots very well. I will get a pic soon, he's having a sleep right now |

Hello and welcome. Dalmatians are very clever and know which side their bread is buttered so I expect he's being very good to lull you into a sense of false security
If you can post a picture of his spots maybe we can help. If he is very thin then it may just be that his coat is poor - when their coats are very thin then the spotting can look as though it is surrounded by pink. Once the condition improves then the fur thckens upand the dog looks white again.
Look forward to hearing all about him. _________________ Maggi, Caper & Poppy (Hon. Spot)- Banjoliers, Faithful Followers and Forum Wanderers. |
