|
|
Hi everyone I'm just introducing myself and my new Dally bitch Florence. Flo' is new to us, we have just got her from West Yorkshire dog rescue. She is approx 6 years old and is a charmer. She didn't have the best start in life. I believe she was originally bought for the families kids (all 6 of them under 10) in the 101 Dalmations fad. They basically ran riot over her, pulling tail and ears etc until one day she had enough and snapped into the air at a kid. Not in a threatening way more in a "leave me alone way"!
This lead to her being muzzled which made her nervous and worse.
Anyway we have her now and she is an absolute delight to own. A bit needy, we cannot go anywhere at the moment without her following us but she is fantastic on the lead, and off it with great recall and she is super intelligent, learns really quickly and is very eager to please. Any help will be appreciated with her as we are new to the breed. I'll post some pic's as soon as I can
Cheers Drawboy. |

Hello - welcome to you and Florence. Glad you have been able to give her a forever home.
Best advice I can give is to start as you mean to go on and be kind but firm. With rescued dogs many people make the mistake of being too easy on the dog to make up for a previous bad tratment, but dogs need boundaries so make the rules yourself at the beginning and stick to them.
You may be new to the breed but I bet you'll soon be addicted like the rest of us. Can we have a photo of Florence please as I'm sure she's just beautiful. _________________ Maggi, Caper & Poppy (Hon. Spot)- Banjoliers, Faithful Followers and Forum Wanderers. |

Hi Maggi, I agree with everything you have said, I have set boundaries but to be honest she isn't without training and she really is very good and easy to train.
hopefully here is our Flo

Hello and welcome!
Florence looks adorable and it's so lovely that she's found her forever home with you
I've found that there's no better place to ask Dally questions than on the forum - everyone is so helpful! _________________ Ann, Kenny & Flekk |

Hello and welcome to you and lovely Florence.
She does look a sweetie and well done for giving her a chance.
I think it sounds as though she was very patient but was finally pushed to the point of enough and in my opinion was intitled to say so .
I agree about the zoom groom on the other thread, nothing better.
Against the hair first then the other way to finish. _________________ Carol and Daisy X |
